Nontropical Sprue

Nontropical Sprue, also known as Celiac Disease, malabsorption syndrome and gluten enteropathy, is a chronic medical disorder in which nutrients are not absorbed by the villi  which have become flattened. Those with this medical condition must adhere to a gluten free celiac diet to control the symptoms including diarrhea and abdominal pain.
